Treatment Options for Rashes

Treatment options for rashes vary depending on the cause of the rash. Prior to prescribing a treatment, your provider will make a diagnosis through a visual examination and by reviewing your health history. Keep note of your symptoms and any changes in medication, personal care products, known insect bites or other factors.

Some common rash treatment options include topical or oral antibiotics, antifungals and corticosteroids. In cases of severe inflammation, your provider may also recommend a corticosteroid injection.

In some cases, rashes can be treated using phototherapy. This typically applied to conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
