What is Sculptra?
As we age, our collagen production begins to slow which can result in lost volume. Sculptra is an injectable filler that contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) which stimulates collagen in the body. Over time, the PLLA is gradually absorbed by the body, leaving behind your own natural collagen for restored volume and youthful contour.
Sculptra is most commonly used to treat:
- Volume Loss
- Skin Laxity
- Overall Rejuvenation
Who is a Candidate for Sculptra?
Good candidates for Sculptra are those who wish to gradually restore fullness to their face and address lines and wrinkles that may make them appear aged. You should not receive this treatment if you have a bleeding disorder, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a history of severe allergies. Please contact our office to schedule a consultation appointment today to learn more about candidacy.
What Can I Expect During Treatment?
During Sculptra treatment, your injector will cleanse your skin and then apply a topical numbing cream to ensure you are comfortable. Sculptra will be skillfully injected into the treatment areas using a fine needle. Treatment usually takes 60 minutes to complete.
Following Sculptra, temporary and mild swelling, bruising, and itchiness may occur at the injection sites. While there is no downtime required, we recommend avoiding vigorous exercise, heavy lifting, and excessive sun exposure for 24 hours after treatment. Most patients can see results within eight weeks of treatment, as it takes some time for the body to produce collagen.
